Job DescriptionThis position is located at the Austin West Campus in Austin, MN. The incumbent is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing of boilers, control systems, plumbing fixtures, and other systems included in the building envelope. Basic understanding of chillers, pumps, cooling towers, pneumatic controls, and water treatment. Manages building supply and equipment inventory and documents all service-related activities (including report writing). May exercise some responsibilities for purchasing materials, work performed by outside vendors, and approving bill of ladings/invoices. Work is done in accordance with established procedures and frequent and detailed instructions are given on new and complex work. Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled jobs in a variety of trade areas. Work is usually assigned and inspected by the Physical Plant Supervisor.Salary Range$29.93 - $34.52 / $62,494.00 - $ 72,078.00Minimum QualificationsMust possess a valid State of MN boiler license, Second Class C Engineer or greater.Knowledge and skills in the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in trade work sufficient to assist skilled trades staff in the completion of assigned projects.Ability to perform semi-skilled trades work sufficient to complete minor trades plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and/or electrical systems and equipment.Ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments to machinery and equipment including the general maintenance and minor repairs of buildings.Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions sufficient to interpret and carry out assignments in a safe and efficient manner.Skill in the use of hand and power tools, and other trades equipment.Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to perform the job duties safely and efficiently.Preferred QualificationValid driver?s license.Ability to perform a variety of general maintenance tasks, follow simple oral and written instructions and to perform assigned tasks with limited direct supervision.Ability to work in a variety of adverse weather conditions.Must be in good physical condition sufficient to operate motorized grounds equipment, maintenance, and construction equipment and lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.Ability to keep records and perform clerical functions sufficient to order supplies and complete inventories.Bilingual/multilingual fluent in Spanish, Karen, Karenni, Somali, Pohnpeian, French, Nuer, Anuak, or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities.Demonstrated experience working with multicultural and underserved populations.Other RequirementsA complete online application will include a letter of interest and a resume/curriculum vitae.
