Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
Under general supervision, this individual will prepare and teach Forklift Operator courses. The purpose of the instruction is to equip students with the necessary occupation-specific and employability skills for success in the workplace. The faculty member must be able to instruct a wide variety of topics within the curriculum in the classroom and in a practical environment, and may be required to teach day, evening and/or weekend hours.
Education Required:
High School Diploma
Education Preferred:
Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology, Logistics, Engineering, Machining, or other related fields from an accredited post-secondary institution preferred.
One or more certifications from the following certifying entities preferred; National Safety Council (NSC), OSHA, NC Department of Labor (NCDOL), Safety & Health Council of NC (SHCNC), NC Industrial Extension Service (NC State – IES). Train the Trainer certification from employer will be considered.
Experience Required:
A minimum of three years working in logistics, construction, or related industry.
At least three years of supervisory experience.
Record of demonstrated ability to train and evaluate powered industrial truck operators is required. Instructor must have the knowledge, training, and experience, to train students and evaluate their competence.
Proficiency with MS® Office software.
Teaching and/or industry training experience in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars.
