Work Conditions: Work is indoors and outdoors. Employee will occasionally push a cart carrying equipment up to 200 lbs. Employee must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Climbing ladders and working on scaffolding and open grate cat walks up to 60 feet off the ground will be required. The work schedule consists of flexible days and hours including nights and weekends.
Duties of Position: Experience with one or more of the following skills:
Technical setup of theatre lighting including hanging, aiming and focus of instruments and operating computerized lighting control systems for events.
Technical setup of theatre audio equipment including microphones, cabling, speakers, monitors, audio control consoles and amplifiers, and operating computerized audio control systems for events.
Technical setup and operation of video equipment including cameras, microphones, video lighting, backdrops, projectors, projection and monitor screens for events.
Theatrical construction of scenery and set pieces for theatre events.
Responsible for the loading and unloading of trucks for equipment that is rented or purchased for productions.
Performs routine maintenance of audio, lighting and construction equipment under the supervision of the Technical Director.
Maintains current knowledge of the functioning and operation of computerized lighting control systems, sound control systems, rigging hardware materials and construction tools and equipment.
Operates theatrical equipment in a safe and efficient manner as dictated by safety and training guidelines for the department.
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve technical skills and knowledge in the operation of all theatrical equipment in the Performing Arts Center, J Theatre, Pavilion and Drama Lab.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some College preferred.
Experience Requirements: A minimum of 1 year of previous technical theater experience. Excellent organization and time management skills required. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have some experience and knowledge of one of more of the areas of responsibility (stage lighting, audio systems, fly equipment, stage construction or video production.)
