The Apawamis Club is looking to build out and restructure the management team in the grounds department. Our goal is to bring on multiple new assistants with varying degrees of experience. We have openings for new graduates to come in at a more developmental level and for candidates that will be looking to move into a superintendent position in the next year or two.
The Assistant will work with the Superintendent and other Assistants to plan and execute daily operations, evaluate current agronomic programs/procedures and strategize long-term projects. The daily role of the Assistant includes disease and insect scouting, participating in daily maintenance, crew management, irrigation scheduling and interdepartmental collaboration. Assistants will also gain valuable experience in management of construction projects, as the club has several projects on the horizon.

Founded in 1890, The Apawamis Club is the 6th oldest private club in the United States and steeped in history. The Club remains on the forefront with world-class facilities and an active, family oriented membership. The golf course combines quirky architectural character with an old school aesthetic – reminiscent of the early days of golf. With most major architectural work completed on the golf course (2017-2020) and a new Rain Bird Cirrus Pro irrigation system (2021), the club is now putting a focus on fine-tuning the property. The club works with Golf Course Architect, Keith Foster on a yearly basis, to address opportunities to improve the golf experience at Apawamis. With a number of new projects and initiatives in the coming years, Apawamis presents an exciting opportunity for turfgrass professionals.
