Salary Details:
Trump National Golf Club Westchester is seeking a motivated and team-oriented Assistant Superintendent to join our Golf Course Maintenance team. This position plays a key leadership role in daily crew management, golf course conditioning, irrigation scheduling, chemical applications, and project oversight.
The ideal candidate will be a positive leader who thrives in a structured, high-expectation environment and is eager to contribute to a well-established operation without disrupting proven procedures.
Club Highlights:
- Total Annual Rounds: 15,000 (12 outings annually)
- Total Staff: 10 full-time (22 total in season)
- Typical Work Schedule:
- In Season (April–November): 6:00am–2:30pm Monday–Friday; Assistants work every other weekend (6:00–10:00am; 1:00–4:00pm when hand watering required)
- Extended hours during aerification, chemical/fertilizer applications, heat-related hand watering, and contractor oversight
- Off Season (December–April): 7:00am–3:00pm Monday–Friday; additional hours for snow removal
- Turf Types: Bent/Poa mix (predominantly Bentgrass)
- Future Projects: Well project (7 new wells with pipe and wire routing), continued ryegrass removal from Bentgrass fairways
- Irrigation System: Rain Bird
- Equipment: John Deere (Capital Lease)

Initial Priorities of Position:
- Lead daily morning meetings and crew start-up
- Prepare and manage job board scheduling
- Oversee crew assignments and daily workflow
- Manage paperwork and documentation
- Obtain or hold NY Pesticide Applicator License
- Apply chemicals and fertilizers safely and accurately
- Operate sprayer for roughs, natives, and fairways
- Monitor contractors and oversee end-of-day procedures
- Ensure facilities are secured and equipment fueled daily
Key Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills, and Aptitude:
- Supervise and train maintenance staff
- Assist with hiring, discipline documentation, and performance evaluations
- Schedule irrigation and manage hand watering
- Supervise golf course setup (greens, bunkers, tees, cups)
- Assist with cultural practices (aerification, topdressing, verticutting, overseeding)
- Record chemical applications per NY DEC regulations
- Assist with inventory, purchasing, and vendor coordination
- Monitor turf health including moisture, disease, and pest activity
- Communicate daily with Superintendent and Golf Shop
- Operate mowers, tractors, sprayers, and various turf equipment
- Assist with construction and improvement projects
- Support snow removal operations
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3–7 years of golf course maintenance experience
- Associate degree in Turfgrass Management or related field (Preferred)
- Experience may offset educational requirements
- Valid New York Driver’s License
- NY Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain)
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions
