Caney Fork Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CFEC) is seeking an experienced and technically strong Director of Engineering to lead engineering planning, system design, and construction oversight for our electric distribution system. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and cost effective service through sound engineering standards, long range system planning, and effective leadership of the Engineering Department.
Key Responsibilities
Lead engineering design, construction planning, and long-range system studies.
Develop and manage construction budgets and work plans in compliance with RUS standards.
Oversee inspections, GIS accuracy, and work order quality and timeliness.
Collaborate with Operations and other departments to support system reliability and member service.
Lead, train, and develop engineering staff while promoting safety and cooperative values.
Overnight travel and 24/7 availability may be required.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering required. Minimum of ten (10) years progressive engineering experience in the electric distribution industry, including at least five (5) years in a supervisory or management capacity, is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
A valid Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Ability to work independently, lead and support a team, manage multiple priorities, and handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Demonstrated working knowledge of electric distribution system technologies, including system mapping, engineering design tools, AMI and metering systems, substations, and related electrical infrastructure.

Caney Fork Electric is a distribution cooperative formed on the courthouse steps at Sparta, TN in 1940. We proudly serve Warren, White, DeKalb and Van Buren Counties as well as a small portion of Cannon, Coffee, Grundy and Putnam counties. Our mission is to provide safe, reliable and affordable power to our member/owners all while working to improve their quality of life. CFEC employs a total of 78 team members including 28 linemen. We maintain over 4,000 miles of electric lines, responsible for power flowing to 33,947 members. We work and live in our communities, so we have a vested interest in “keeping the lights on”.
