The school seeks an assistant technical director to help oversee a vibrant program of productions, coursework, and events. As a member of the production team (including Technical Director, Production Manager, etc.), the ATD will help plan, coordinate, supervise, and run curricular production work as well as assist with all-school and student life events. The successful candidate will be both an experienced technician with a demonstrated interest in arts education. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
Qualifications:
Theater production and design experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
Experience with lighting and sound design
General knowledge of electrical distribution and safety practices
Set construction experience and working knowledge of shop safety/OSHA standards
Experience in education preferred
Willingness to work evening and weekend hours
Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record
Successful candidates must pass fingerprinting and MA CORI/SORI background
Responsibilities:
Provide production support in the following areas:
Scenic carpentry
Lighting design and electrics
Sound design and A/V
Works closely with Tech Crew students after school and during tech week to prepare the students to run productions, concerts, and events including performance night supervision.
Supports A/V needs for all-school events across campus.
Helps organize and maintain all storage areas and equipment.
Supports the technical aspects of CA Summer Camp programs.
Job Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, carrying, and lifting moderately heavy items, 50-70 lbs, will be required. The job also requires climbing stairs and ladders, using lifts, and working at heights.
There is periodic background noise from machinery and music instruments in the same building.
Occasional work outside regular office hours (evenings and weekends) will be necessary, particularly during events.
The school provides a competitive benefits package and salary is commensurate with experience. Student-facing staff members at Concord Academy participate fully in the life of the school; responsibilities include advising, serving on committees and/or clubs, and periodically providing an adult presence at school events. On-campus housing may be available, but it is limited, and employees are not required to live at the school.
