MATERIAL SUPERVISOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Material Supervisor will serve the members and support the goals of Jefferson Energy Cooperative (JEC) by effectively and efficiently providing adequate construction materials which will aid in accomplishing the most efficient and timely service to existing and new members/consumers.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Manager of Administration
Supervises: Material Specialists
III. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Assists with the procurement and acquisition of materials used for Line Construction and Maintenance.
Directly responsible for maintaining and reporting accurate inventory levels of all warehouses throughout the company – special equipment, minor and major materials - and all associated materials to the Manager of Administration.
Assists in the preparation of JEC's annual budget by submitting suggestions and pricing for warehouse needs.
Makes himself available for any work that may be required at times other than normal working hours.
Responsible for scheduling employees and job priorities within the Warehouses.
Advises Manager of Administration about warehouse equipment needs for capital budget purposes and work scheduling.
Submits written reports to Manager of Administration on a regular basis and maintains written correspondence with JEC employees and contractors.
Supervises all facets of the Warehouses to ensure adherence to established service procedures and makes improvements as needed.
Supervises, develops and implements procedures to improve efficiency of warehouse operations.
Supervises the delivery of materials to crews in the field during power outages, storms or inclement weather.
Supervises the accurate transfer of materials from warehouse to warehouse.
Responsible for the accurate annual inventories of all warehouses.
Responsible for keeping a clean, safe and orderly warehouse including pole storage areas, area around scrap wire bins and old pole storage areas.
Responsible for turning in all work orders in a timely manner which also includes work orders from outer offices.
Communicates with Material Specialists about materials needed for the warehouses.
Performs the duties of this position in a manner, which is in accordance with established policies, practices and procedures, so as to make a maximum contribution to the objectives of JEC.
Provides leadership and direction to all construction material warehousing activities at JEC and the type of supervision which will encourage the employees to work effectively and efficiently resulting in high levels of safety, morale, and productivity.
Supervisory Responsibilities/ Essential Functions
Leads by example maintaining a positive attitude, professionalism and a supportive environment. Practice consistency, fairness, and honesty in supervising employees;
Orients his/her employees to their position and JEC;
Processes employee timesheets. Coordinates and properly documents paid time off;
Communicates duties and responsibilities, delegates tasks and informs subordinates of the expectations of performance;
Develops an understanding of each job in order to direct the employees supervised. Motivates them to perform their duties to meet JEC’s expectation of performance;
Continually assesses performance by giving and receiving feedback in a timely manner. Conducts Coaching Reviews and Annual Performance Reviews;
Evaluates training needs of employees and provides opportunities for continuing education;
Assists Manager of Administration in hiring employees with guidance from Human Resources;
Actively supports the efforts and intent of Equal Employment Opportunity.

MATERIALS SUPERVISOR
Job Knowledge, Training Experience:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least five years of warehouse experience or a related field.
Preferred:
At least one year of supervisor experience
Experience in line construction and knowledge of construction materials.
Forklift Operator’s Certification
Commercial Driver’s License.
Abilities and Skills:
Required:
Must be able to supervise and direct personnel.
Must have competent computer skills with emphasis on spreadsheets and word processing.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Must have the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Must also have ability for accuracy and detail.
Must be able to operate a forklift.
Physical Effort and Working Conditions:
Frequently required to lift up to 70 pounds. Occasionally operates heavy equipment. Must be able to stand, walk and stoop. Due to equipment weight limits, the Material Supervisor must weigh 315 lbs. or less.
This position requires approximately 85% indoor work in a warehouse environment and 15% outdoor work. Employee is subject to be called out at any time to deliver materials. This position may require work other than his/her normal working hours during power outages, storms or inclement weather, also overtime may be required in order to meet deadlines.
