We're currently seeking a Technical Services Supervisor to join our team at one of our service center locations (Atlanta, Dorr, Elmira, Grawn, or Reed City). In this leadership role, you'll guide our Instrumentation & Communications (I&C) and Relay teams by supporting the protection, control, and communications systems that keep our transmission, distribution, and generation facilities operating safely and reliably.
A Day in the Life:
Most days are spent setting the plan, clearing roadblocks, and serving as the technical go?to for the I&C and Relay crew-balancing people leadership with hands?on technical oversight.
Daily work includes:
Lining up priorities for testing, repairs, outages, and construction support -- always keeping safety at the forefront
Working alongside technicians to troubleshoot relay, SCADA, and control issues and tackle complex problems as they arise
Coordinating closely with Engineering, Operations, and the Energy Control Center to ensure switching, schedules, and work packages are solid before crews head out
Keeping testing records, documentation, and drawings accurate in coordination with the CAD department and up to date so systems remain reliable, compliant, and audit?ready
When issues arise after hours, this role provides steady support for on?call response and system restoration as needed.
What We're Looking For:
We're seeking an experienced utility professional who brings strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership style.
The ideal candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
10 or more years of progressively responsible maintenance experience, electric utility experience strongly preferred
Advanced knowledge of protection, control, instrumentation, and communications systems, including protective relays, SCADA/RTUs, control circuits, metering, and substation communications
A working understanding of testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting practices across transmission, substation, distribution, and generation facilities
Familiarity with applicable NERC Reliability Standards, NFPA/NEC, OSHA requirements, and utility safety practices
Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to direct, train, coach, and evaluate technical staff
The ability to prioritize work, make sound decisions, and stay composed during both routine and emergency situations
Strong communication skills and comfort working cross?functionally
