Operates a wide variety of construction equipment and motorized wheeled vehicles including commercial trucks and tractors over25,000 lbs. to provide utilities, general excavation, and construction maintenance support
Performs manual labor for general maintenance and landscape construction tasks, including shoveling, paving, catch basin minor repairs, cleaning, tamping, snow removal, and other duties that apply
Promptly reports unsafe conditions or damage to campus landscape/hardscape, equipment, or facilities
Subject tocall-intwenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to handle emergencies, especially snow events
Subjecttoshift changes and extended working hours (including nights, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) to meet seasonal work demands
Subject to working in weather related extremes of heat and cold for extended periods
Maycome into contact withsewage and dead animals
Regular exposure to bees and pollen
This position is covered by the UAW Collective Bargaining Agreement
At the end of the probationary period employees willbe requiredto pay union dues per article 1 of the agreement
This is an Endowed, union position within theUAW. The starting pay rate is $27.13/hour.

High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum of three years? experience in the construction field, and related equipment operation, to include a minimum of one year?s experience working around underground utilities,operatingmotorized construction and snowplow equipment
Must have andmaintaina valid US driver?s license; may berequiredtooperatea motor vehicle (your own) vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites
CDLB licenserequiredor must obtain within 6 months of hire. Mustmaintaina current DOT physical, pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
